Are you whitewashing your walls?
God has really pressed this topic on my heart! Sin is something that God can not stand; so ask yourselves are you truly cleaning house or are your smoothing it over hoping that it will not be seen?
(2 Pet 2:21 KJV) "For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them."
(2 Pet 2:22 KJV) "But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire."
After you come to the Lord you need to obey God and repent; this means to fully turn away from the sin, not to ignore it and hope that it will go away, because you are free from the sins when you ask God to come in an take them away.
I am going to speak today on what the Bible calls a plague in the house.
1. First examine yourselves to see if there is a sin in you, that sin that so easily besets us.
(Heb 12:1 KJV) "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,"
Next we need to see sin for what it is, an evil viral cancer that threatens to destroy the body of Christ.
Christ gives us a new temple for the Holy Spirit when he comes and lives in us, and sin can not live there.
(Lev 14:34 KJV) "When ye be come into the land of Canaan,
which I give to you for a possession, and I put the plague of leprosy in a house of the
land of your possession;"
(Lev 14:35 KJV) "And he that owneth the house shall come and
tell the priest, saying, It seemeth to me there is as
it were a plague in the house:"
Now
we need to examine our hearts,
(Lev 14:36 KJV) "Then the priest
shall command that they empty the house, before the priest go into it to see the plague, that all that is in the house be not made unclean: and afterward
the priest shall go in to see the house:"
(Lev 14:37 KJV) "And he shall look on the plague, and,
behold, if the plague be in the walls of the house with hollow streaks,
greenish or reddish, which in sight are lower
than the wall;"
(Lev 14:38 KJV) "Then the priest shall go out of the house to
the door of the house, and shut up the house seven days:"
Now we need to clean house,
(Lev 14:39 KJV) "And the priest shall come again the seventh
day, and shall look: and, behold, if the plague
be spread in the walls of the house;"
(Lev 14:40 KJV) "Then the priest shall command that they take
away the stones in which the plague is, and
they shall cast them into an unclean place without the city:"
(Lev 14:41 KJV) "And he shall cause the house to be scraped
within round about, and they shall pour out the dust that they scrape off without the city
into an unclean place:"
(Lev 14:42 KJV) "And they shall take other stones, and put them in the place of those stones; and he shall
take other mortar, and shall plaster the house."
2. If you still find that sin is there dont ignore it!
(Lev 14:43 KJV)
"And if the plague come again, and break out in the house, after that he hath
taken away the stones, and after he hath scraped the house, and after it is
plastered;"
(Lev 14:44 KJV) "Then the priest shall come and look, and,
behold, if the plague be spread in the house,
it is a fretting leprosy in the house: it is unclean."
(Lev 14:45 KJV) "And he shall break down the house, the
stones of it, and the timber thereof, and all the mortar of the house; and he shall carry them forth out of the city into an unclean
place."
Now we have to do personal cleansing and declare that it is cured.
(Lev 14:46 KJV)
"Moreover he that goeth into the house all the while that it is shut up shall
be unclean until the even."
(Lev 14:47 KJV) "And he that lieth in the house shall wash
his clothes; and he that eateth in the house shall wash his clothes."
(Lev 14:48 KJV) "And if the priest shall come in, and look upon it, and, behold, the plague hath not spread
in the house, after the house was plastered: then the priest shall pronounce the house
clean, because the plague is healed."
Now is the atonement for the sins and cleansing.
(Lev 14:49 KJV)
"And he shall take to cleanse the house two birds, and cedar wood, and
scarlet, and hyssop:"
(Lev 14:50 KJV) "And he shall kill the one of the birds in an
earthen vessel over running water:"
(Lev 14:51 KJV) "And he shall take the cedar wood, and the
hyssop, and the scarlet, and the living bird, and dip them in the blood of the slain bird,
and in the running water, and sprinkle the house seven times:"
(Lev 14:52 KJV) "And he shall cleanse the house with the
blood of the bird, and with the running water, and with the living bird, and with the
cedar wood, and with the hyssop, and with the scarlet:"
(Lev 14:53 KJV) "But he shall let go the living bird out of
the city into the open fields, and make an atonement for the house: and it shall be
clean."
What God is saying to us is this if you examine your house, or your earthen vessels and you find the red and green streaks, which is symbolic for the sin. You are to clean house by first cleaning the problem areas that you know about up front like: adultery, pornography, drinking..ect
3. Then we are to examine again, if there is still areas that are not completely given to God we are to do a deeper cleaning. Going as far as scraping the plaster off the house.
This is looking at our attitudes, how can we call ourselves Christians when we come to church and then we curse and lust and brag about all of the women and men that we get in to bed, this is against God.
Next we are to tear the house apart looking for any hidden sins. That leaves only the foundation.
After the sin is all out you need to apply the atonement to it, you need to apply the blood of Jesus, and it will clean the streaks.
Now the question I ask you is are you getting the sin out, or are you only whitewashing the sin hoping that no one will see it and it will go away. Well I need to tell you that it wont, God sees it and he wants it out.
So take a look at you lives, are you a holy vessel that is clean and worthy of Christ, or are you walking in sin, are you listening to music that talks about lust and sex, are you walking in sins such as homosexuality, are you sneaking to your rack and looking at porno mags, or are you going out to the bars and drinking and trying to pick up girls or guys, you can see this pertains to everyone.
It doesnt matter, you can be in the pulpit preaching like Billy Graham, or helping the poor like Mother Theresa. If you dont know Christ when you die you will hear depart I never knew you. Just because you have whitewashed your walls and everyone else cant see how you really are, remember that God can!
Sin is very easy to define; it is anything that Jesus wouldnt do!
I want to let you know that you arent guaranteed tomorrow and God says that he will not always contend with man. He has given you a day called today where the Holy Spirit is preparing your heart and wooing you to come to him, the decision you make is the most important you will ever make. Please dont let pride enter, the only thing that will stop a person from coming to Christ is pride. Pride will damn your soul to hell!
If you are hearing this message and it has spoken to your heart then I ask you please let Jesus in to your heart.
If you have the leprosy in your house today I ask you to come up to the front and ask the ultimate Priest to clean your house and apply the blood for atonement of the sins, Jesus is that priest spoken of and his blood is the atoning power for God says that :
(2 Chr 7:14 KJV) "If my people, which are called by my name,
shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear
from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
(2 Chr 7:15 KJV) "Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears
attent unto the prayer that is made in this
place."
So once again I ask are you truly cleansing your house or are you white washing the walls?
